What is SEO: The term SEO is the acronym for the English words Search Engine Optimization.
The first search engines emerged in the 90s, Google in 96. Then the unstoppable rise of the web began. Over time they realized that they could make money with them, so they needed to attract Internet users to them, they needed to attract traffic. And for this, the best way to achieve it is through search engines.
Search engine positioning and optimization is the method followed to improve the visibility of a brand on the Internet.
This is a discipline that is constantly updated and changing.
There are many factors that search engines rely on to rank a page. But, mainly, there are two fundamental factors: authority and relevance.
Authority is, more than anything, the popularity of a website. The more popular the website, the more valuable the information will be. This is the factor that the search engine takes into account the most.
Relevance is the relationship that a website has with the search performed. This is not the number of times a page contains the searched term, but rather search engines rely on hundreds of factors to determine that relationship.
On-site
This type of SEO is concerned with relevance. It makes sure that the website is optimized correctly so that the search engine understands its content.
Off-site
It is the part of SEO work that focuses on factors external to the website we are working on.
The most important factors in off-site SEO are the number and quality of links, presence on social networks, mentions in local media, brand authority …
Once we know what SEO is, we have to differentiate whether or not we follow the search engine’s recommendations. This is what is known as Black Hat SEO and White Hat SEO.
Black Hat SEO
It is called Black Hat because it consists of improving the positioning of a website through unethical techniques or that go against the search engine’s guidelines.
This can provide benefits in the short term, but it is a risky strategy that does not provide value and does not usually have a long-term path.
White Hat SEO
It is called White Hay because it consists of improving the positioning of a website through techniques that are ethical, not like in the previous case.
This method includes techniques that seek to make a page more relevant to search engines by providing value to users.
It is important because it makes your website more useful for both users and search engines.
SEO is necessary to help search engines understand what each page is about and whether or not it is useful to users.
SEO is necessary because it is the best way for users to find your website through searches in which your page is relevant. These users are looking for the products or services that you offer. Thus, using search engines is the most effective approach to get in touch with them.
The operation of these engines can be summarized in two steps: crawling and indexing.
A search engine scours the web crawling what are called bots. These run through the entire page through the links, hence the importance of having a good link structure.
The process begins with a list of previous crawling web addresses and sitemaps provided by other web pages.
It is the bots themselves that decide which pages to visit, the frequency and how long they will crawl that website.
Once the bot has collected all the information, all of these pages are included in an index. In this they are ordered according to their content, authority and relevance. In this way, when we make a query to the search engine it will be easier for it to show us the results that are most related to our search.
Once the pages are crawled and indexed, it is time for the algorithm to come into play.
