What Is A Data Center, Types And Implementation

Data Center : Most of the big companies like Amazon, Google and Microsoft have their own data centers where they store, operate and rigorously care for the internal and external information of their corporations.

However, a CPD is not exclusive to large companies, since many medium-sized businesses that have high data management require one to have more security and a greater hosting capacity

What Is A Data Center?

A data processing center or data center is a physical facility that centralizes operations and the IT infrastructure of a company. Its main objective is to store, process, treat and disseminate data and applications. They are built to guarantee the continuity of services or the management of key information.

They are usually used in large companies that handle a lot of information, most of which requires great care due to its level of sensitivity and confidentiality. An example of this can be banks, who make use of a CPD to safeguard the information of their clients and their own.

5 Elements Of A Data Center

Data centers can vary in sizes and number of facilities. However, each one is made up of the following elements that constitute its structure and operation.

Computing

It is provided (mostly) by high-end servers and is made up of memory and power, which is precisely what facilitates the execution of CPD applications

Security

Security is a fundamental element in a data center, since its main objective is to guarantee that a company’s information does not leak or suffer from different situations such as information theft, unauthorized access, natural disasters, fires, among others.

Storage

All the information and data of a company are stored within the CPD in different media. These can be tapes, solid state drives, or multiple backups

Many large companies opt for cloud data processing for disaster recovery and backup. And while the cloud may be the primary source of storage, the costs of transporting data entirely in this mode are often less cost effective than local storage.

Networks

This element refers to the interconnections between the components of the data center and the external environment in which it is located. This includes routers, switches, application delivery controllers, and more

Analysis software

An analysis software is an element that provides data security and ease of use. One of the most popular features is predictive analytics, which fulfills the goal of analyzing a company’s current data to make intelligent predictions for the future.

Now that you know the basic elements of a CPD, we will tell you more about its function and the benefits of having one within a company.

What Is A Data Center For?

In this era in which the use of data is essential for the management and handling of any company, it is essential to have facilities that guarantee computer and IT security.

The cybersecurity market is expected to grow by 8.1% due to the increase in computer attacks. Every day there are more than 350,000 malware attacks in the world and a company can also suffer from data loss for different reasons, which leads to damage to its operations and even high financial losses.

For these and more reasons, facilities such as data centers have become a transcendental element for companies of any size.

And why is so much security required? Companies use data centers to store all of their valuable information, including software applications, formulas, designs, prototypes, sensitive internal information, and customer data.
